The book is devoted to the authentic phenomena of folklore and ethnic cultures of the regions of Eastern and Central Palessie which are called ominously nowadays - Chernobyl. In the book the author has presented the folk and ritual archetypes of ancient ages, the places of the folk and ethnic elements in all the periods of the formation of an authentic ritual and festive tradition of the region: Kievan Rus, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the period when it was a part of Russian Empire, and especially the second half of the 19th century. Research and publishing the materials on folk traditional and ethnic culture and its impact on the development of professional art and literature in the 20th century are analyzed here separately.

The chapters of the work that correspond to the time are devoted to a folk historical chronicle "Songs about ancient Lithuanians till 1434" by Jan Chachot as a model of a historical Belarusian epos and a fundamental work of the prominent slavists Z. Dalenga-Khadakouski, P. Shpileuski, A. Kolberg, Z. Radchanka, M. Kosich, Ch. Piatkevich, K. Mashynski, M. Talsty.

In his book Vasil Litsvinka has analyzed the place of folklore and traditional culture in a modern culturological context, the specific features of the ethnocultural development of Chernobyl region, the problems of existence and the prospects of including it to a modern culturological context of authentic folk phenomena and ethnic culture. The author has shown the method of using natural aesthetics of regional ethnoculture in solving psychological and moral problems of so-called "Chernobyl syndrome", and on the basis of the researches has constructed a modern model of a ritual and festive tradition of the region and its prospects.

The monograph can become the basis of realization of the most important UNESCO documents in Belarus - "World declaration of cultural diversity" 2001 and "International convention on protection of non-material cultural heritage" 2003 which were adopted nowadays due to destructive consequences of globalization for any regional culture, and also the realization of the Belarusian documents - " State program of the revival and development of countryside in 2005-2010" and the development of countryside tourism.

The publication is illustrated with numerous photos of ritual and festive, ethnic and traditional culture of Chernobyl region made during scientific expeditions. There are about 100 illustrations (half of them are coloured) of ritual ornaments, unique rites, holidays, rituals, folk groups, prominent folk singers, the photos of the authors and the works of the researchers of Chernobyl region, and also the lists of the text records and 255 video films of Scientific Research Laboratory of Belarusian State University about all the authentic folk and ethnic phenomena of the region.

The monograph will be useful for scientists and practical workers of education and culture in the spheres of folklore, ethnolinguistics, history and ethnology, and also for those who are interested in the culture and history of Chernobyl region.

Mit finanzieller Unterstützung des Belarussischen Republikanischen Zentrums der Grundlagenforschung ist nun das Buch „Folklore und Ethnokultur von Čornobyl [Tschernobyl]. Zum 20. Jahrestag des Super-GAUs“ von Vasil Lićvinka erschienen.

In der Monographie wird der Standort von Folklore und ethnischer Kultur innerhalb der Geschichte der Čornobyl-Region dargestellt. Es werden die folkloristisch-rituellen Archetypen prähistorischer Zeit, der Standort folkloristischer und ethnischer Elemente in allen Entstehungszeiträumen ursprünglicher ritueller und feierlicher Tradition der Region dargestellt: aus der Kiever Rus und dem Großen Fürstentum Litauen, aus der Zeit, als Belarus dem Russischen Imperium angehörte und besonders ausführlich in der zweiten Hälfte des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts. Die Forschungsarbeit und Veröffentlichung von Materialien traditioneller folkloristischer und ethnischer Kulturgüter und ihr Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der belarussischen Kunst und Literatur im zwanzigsten Jahrhundert werden gesondert analysiert.

Die einzelnen Kapitel zu den ensprechenden Zeiträumen widmen sich der folkloristisch-künstlerischen historischen Chronik „Spevy pra daŭnich lic’vinaŭ la 1434 hoda“ [„Gesänge über die alten Lićvinen bis 1434“] von Jan Čačot als einem historischen Epos der Belarussen und einer fundamentalen Arbeit in der Region der hervorragender Slavisten Z. Dalenhi-Chadkoŭski, P. Špileŭski, A. Kolberg, Z. Radčanka, M. Kosič, Č. Pjatkevič, K. Mašynski, M. Tolstoj.

Im Buch werden der Standort von Folklore und traditioneller Kultur im modernen kulturwissenschaftlichen Kontext, die Spezifik der ethnokulturellen Entwicklung in der Čornobyl-Region und die Existenzprobleme und die Perspektiven der Einbeziehung ursprünglicher künstlerischer Erscheinungen von Folklore und ethnischer Kultur in heutige und zukünftige kulturelle Zusammenhänge untersucht. Es wird die Methodik in der Verwendung von natürlicher Ästhetik regionaler Ethnokultur beim Lösen psychologisch-moralischer Probleme des „Čornobyl-Syndroms“ untersucht. Auf der Grundlage der Forschungen wird ein modernes Modell der rituellen und feierlichen Traditionen der Region konstruiert.

Die Monographie kann zum Fundament der Ausführung wichtigerer Aspekte der von der UNESCO angenommenen Dokumente werden: Der „Welterklärung kultureller Vielseitigkeit“ (2001) und der „Internationalen Kovention zum Schutz nichtmateriellen Kulturerbes“ (2003), des „Staatlichen Programms der Wiedergeburt und Entwicklung der Dorfkultur für die Jahre 2005 bis 2010“ und der Entwicklung des Landtourismus.

Die Monographie enthält zahlreiche während der Expeditionen und Aufzeichnungen des Belarussischen Staatsfernsehens gemachte Illustrationen von Photographien und Videoaufnahmen der rituell-feierlichen und ethnisch-traditionellen Kultur der Čornobyl-Region. Sie enthält die Verzeichnisse der Seite des Forschungslaboratoriums zur belarussischen Folklore (Belarussische Staatsuniversität) im Internet, s. www.folkndl.bsu.by (Rubriken: Audio (gesondert digital) Video (249 Einheiten) und regionaler Archive).
